Bassano del Grappa
Bassano del Grappa, a town of over 40.000 inhabitants, is situated on the foot of Monte Grappa in the Northeast of Italy. It’s just an hour by train from Venice, 75 km from Marco Polo airport and 45 km from Treviso airport.
Bassano is well - known for its famous Ponte degli Alpini (the covered wooden bridge designed by Andrea Palladio), the frescoed buildings and arcades, the Monte Grappa, and the famous grappa distilleries. Among the cultural attractions you can found the Castle Ezzelini, three important museums, the restored civic tower. The three squares in the city center are home to various events throughout the year such as Opera Estate and Veneto Jazz, a series of outdoor concerts, movies and games throughout the summer.
During the spring, a real festival is dedicated to the famous White Asparagus of Bassano with gala dinners, product demonstrations and tastings at all the restaurants in the area. During the summer it’s possibile to taste a lot of varieties of mushrooms. Lovers of extreme sports are in one of the most important schools of paragliding and hang gliding and miles and miles of free-climbing walls. Miles of trails for mountain biking, climbing for the most experienced cyclists and fun water in the Brenta river for canoeing and rafting stimulate a summer inside the nature.
